Bottom Line
What we loved
- Great location: across the street from the Manhattan Bridge pedestrian path; less than half a mile to the Canal Street subway station.
- Modern updated rooms, with great artwork. Concrete walls which might be a negative to some.
- Courteous staff: Hotel has a texting system to which they were very responsive.
- 2nd-floor lounge area: great space with coffee & tea along with utensils & a microwave.
What we did not like
- No pool or spa is available at the hotel.
- No robes or slippers were provided in the room (could be requested).
- The bathroom design was not functional (no shower wall to prevent leaking, which resulted in a pool of water in the bathroom after each shower).
- The hotel has 4 elevators to service 21 floors which resulted in frequent waiting. We were on the 5th floor and used the staircase instead.
Verdict
This was a phenomenal stay in a great hotel..
We had to downgrade our room as it was not available when we arrived at 9 am. The king-standard room was nice, definitely wished we had a couch to lounge on though.
The hotel is in the heart of Chinatown, with an amazing rooftop bar (The Crown). They allowed us to "visit" for a bit, however in order to order we needed a reservation which came with a $75 per person minimum.
For $101/night (plus taxes), this hotel was a great find & we will definitely return.
